Deep from the email archives, I thought I'd share a message that Dress wrote ahead of the massive McSWYDS event in 2004. "Bring whatever you think goes well with pig and beer" is the classic Dress line that the McSWYDS will never forget. Best to hear it in his words…

Subject: McSWYDS Final Update

Hello all you McSWYDS Fans!

Remember to watch http://www.kmdgroup.com/Funstuff/McSWYDS.html for all the important details.

This will be the last update before the big event. A few important notes:

We haven't had much response on the shuttle bus. As of now, it's not going to happen. If people are interested in taking a shuttle bus back you need to RSVP right now. If you aren't taking the shuttle bus, we're assuming that you are either camping, not drinking, or have a responsible party in your group who will be driving. Please, please, please arrange to stay the night (preferred) or have a DD to get home.

Speaking of DDs, we would like to minimize the number  of cars that need to park at the event. Please plan carpooling with your friends. If you plan to drive up and back in the same night, we request that you make an announcement before you leave so anyone who is unable to drive but needs to get home can do so safely.

Keeping beer, food and ourselves cool will be a lot easier if we have plenty of ice. If you feel like contributing something to the party, consider bringing a cooler or coolers of ice with you. We can't have too much. In fact, right now we don't have enough. Please bring a cooler of ice. If you want a beer other than Pabst or Leinie's, throw some beer in that cooler too!

We will try to have the route up there posted clearly, but just in case, you should go to the McSWYDS website and get yourself a set of directions and print the detailed map (if you can find it.) There is not much for cellular service in those parts so don't plan to "call if we get lost."

As advertised, we will have plenty of pig and beer. If you have something in mind that goes well with pig and beer, please feel free to bring it along. You may think:

"A fruit salad goes wonderfully with pig and beer." In which case, you would bring a fruit salad.
"My secret recipe barbecue sauce is great on a pork sandwiches."  In which case you would bring your secret recipe barbecue sauce.
"Nothing is better on a hot summer night than a gin and tonic." In which case you would bring some gin and some tonic.
"The best desert after pig and beer is a freshly roasted S'more." In which case you would bring chocolate, grahams, and marshmallows.
"Nothing should upset the delicate balance of pork and beer." In which case, you wouldn't bring anything.

There will of course be all sorts of fun and games, but we want everyone to have the opportunity to sit back and enjoy the great outdoors. We have two options for you:

1) Plant your rear end on the grass and enjoy
2) Bring one of those new and trendy fold-up camping chairs of your own and plant your rear end in that.

We hope you can all make it. Again, if you haven't yet RSVPed, please do.
